Venmo Julie Elkins directly @Julie-Elkine-13

Julie Elkins is part of a fifth generation Tuolumne County family. She and her husband Kreg, a
Summerville High Alum. met in Turlock California, married in Fresno and have raised heir family
in Sonora. They are blessed with a home full of love with their children, Kameron (deceased), Kole
(26), daugher-in-law Kailee, Kaci (22) Kai (19) and grandson Kason. Kole, Kaci and Kai are all
Summerville Elementary and Summerville High graduates and like their parents are amazing
members of our community and have always been very involved.

On April 4, 2024 Kai, a healthy hard working 9-year-old full-time student a JC training for his
upcoming football season and playing basket ball decided to take a nap after breakfast. When Kreg
woke him from his nap Kai began to show signs of mental confusion an was slurring his words. Kreg
instantly too him to Adventist Health ER where hey determined that Kai had a severe neurological
condition and immediately transferred to UC DAVIS MED Center ICU.

Kai as intubated and receiving other life saving measures within hours of his arrival at UC Davis. The
Davis medical team concluded that Kai had been attacked by an exremely rare autoimmune condition, Acute Hemorrhagic Leukoencephalitis (AHLE). His body was attacking itself causing severe inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. There are only five documented cases in he world
with Kai’s same diagnosis. The inflammation has affected Kai’s ability to move from his chest down. Active, healthy, fun-loving young Kai has been fighting or his life at UC DAVIS or more than 70 days
without full understanding of what is happening to his body. Julie and Kreg have not left his side since the April 4 ER visit.

Kai has beat the odds by surviving beyond the first 10 days, he is our “Miracle Man.” He has a long
road to recovery but we know that with his perseverance, the support of his amazing family and our
incredible community he will come out on he o her side of this. In the next couple of weeks Kai will
be transferred to a Long-Term Acute Care and Rehabilitation Facility.

The out pouring of love from our community helps to keep the Elkins family going. Julie and her family are amazing members of our community always showing up with smiles on their faces and ready to give a helping hand. Lets show the Elkins our love and support, join us July 9th to honor Julie Elkins!
