Studio 4 School of Dance students are set to light up the stage at this year’s Holiday Showcase 2024 with their diverse talent in classic jazz, contemporary, Broadway jazz, and ballet. Studio 4 School of Dance (S4SD) and Studio 4 Dance Theater (S4DT) have long enchanted Calaveras County with their dazzling productions, and this December’s showcase is no exception, featuring both modern pieces and beloved Nutcracker classics.
A highlight of this year’s showcase is the senior student dancers who have stepped into the choreographer’s role, bringing fresh energy to timeless Nutcracker pieces. Ruby Eustis-Smith, a former student turned ballet teacher, choreographed the spirited Spanish Chocolate, Anastacia Sharp infused elegance into Arabian Spices, Gracie Strand crafted the playful Peppermint Stick, and Abby Fuqua brought her vision to life in the lively Reed Flutes.
Artistic Director Tammie Lee and Director Sarah Long are thrilled to present the Holiday Showcase, celebrating the dedication of every dancer. “It’s inspiring to see our senior dancers not only perform but also choreograph such beloved pieces,” said Lee. “Their creativity and leadership are a testament to the strength of our program.”
Act I features classic jazz, contemporary, and Broadway jazz numbers choreographed by Sarah Long, performed to holiday favorites such as Man With a Bay, Noel, and You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch. Act II brings the magic of the Nutcracker to life with The Waltz of the Flowers, Spanish Chocolate, Arabian Spices, Peppermint Stick, Reed Flutes, and more.
The Holiday Showcase is made possible through generous community support, including parent volunteers and donations. This year’s production also benefits from a grant provided by the Wintercreek Foundation, funding new costumes to enhance the magic of the performance.
