The purpose of this gathering is to remember and celebrate the day, June 19th, 1865, in Galveston Texas, when those who were still enslaved, received word by proclamation that they were free. Another purpose is to reflect on how far we have come in our journey toward freedom, dignity, human rights, and equal opportunity for all. This event is a chance to celebrate in solidarity together as a community.
This celebration is being hosted by Stand Up, Speak Up, Speak Out!, Inc., a local nonprofit organization dedicated to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
Included in this celebration will be:
• Compelling speakers, other local voices, and talent
• 2SmoothMobileDJs providing the best in music, sound performance, and audience interaction
• A show of solidarity from local organizations such as: The Tuolumne County Arts Council, Pebbles and Pond, MMLK, and many more.
You can support this annual Tuolumne County Juneteenth Celebration by becoming a community sponsor, making a tax-deductible donation, hosting your community organization booth, and/or attending the event. We appreciate any support to help continue efforts to create a community where everyone feels welcome, acknowledged, and valued.
