Learn about tree-on-slab planting from local bonsai club

Mother Lode Bonsai Club invites the public to observe the second step in its member training on a unique tree-on-slab technique. The free presentation will be conducted on Saturday, February 8 immediately after the club’s monthly meeting at 10 a.m. “Due to a scheduling conflict, we will meet on the second Saturday in February instead of the first,” said Bev Meyerhoff, club president. Location is the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas).
Senior mentors will assist club members in planting the miniature trees on a specially pre-shaped slab, which was prepared in January. The end result will be a bonsai tree surprisingly grown on a flat rock surface.
A raffle will also be held for bonsai trees-in-training along with essential materials and supplies. Additionally, members will have finished trees available for purchase.
