The League of Women Voters of the Motherlode will conduct a fundraiser at Murphys Creek Theater on Thursday, August 7, 2026. The play, “ What the Constitution Means to Me “, is written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck and explores the profound impact the U.S. Constitution has on the lives of individuals, especially women.
Critics have described it as “ a brilliant, urgent, and deeply moving production that balances humor with a sobering look “ at the protections and failures the foundational document can provide.” The play is autobiographical and depicts 15 year old Heidi traveling across the United States to compete in-and win- Constitutional debate competitions to earn college tuition.
There will be be a reception from 6pm to 7pm, followed by the performance from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are $25 and are available at Mountain Bookstore in the Junction Shopping Center, or contact Brenda at BMCHENRY209@gmail.com.
Murphys Creek Theater is located at 580 S.Algiers Street, Murphys, CA.
