The “Skeleton Starlight” is a special, family-friendly Halloween-themed evening train ride. The trains depart at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Staffed by a “skeleton crew,” the frightfully fun 45-minute excursion train rides journey to a spooky western ghost town where a coven of witches await the train to pass out candy to the passengers.

Located in the heart of California’s Gold Country, Railtown 1897 SHP combines railroad heritage, local history, and the lure of Hollywood. It is one of only a few remaining genuinely authentic, short line steam-era roundhouse complexes in the United States that remain completely intact, operational, and actively used to service steam locomotives.

The Park is also home to the famous “Movie Star Locomotive” Sierra No. 3®. Built in 1891, she starred in more than one hundred film and television productions such as High Noon, Back to the Future III, and Petticoat Junction.

Tickets for the spirited “Skeleton Starlight” excursion train rides (which include Park admission) are $35 for adults, $23 for youths ages 3-17, and children ages 2 and under are $1.
