14th Annual Stuff The Bus Event – Jamestown Family Resource Center and Jamestown California Highway Patrol Office Team Up Again
Every year hundreds of children in Tuolumne County start school without the supplies and clothes they need to get off on the right foot. The “Stuff the Bus” project gives the entire community the opportunity to support local students in meeting their educational goals by making sure they have what they need to get started.
Last year over 275 students in Tuolumne County received backpacks full of school supplies and other helpful items. The need has been great in the past and it is anticipated more children than ever will be in need of support this school year.
How does it work? A Jamestown School District bus will park in front of the Sonora Wal-Mart store all day on Saturday August 17th. CHP Officers, community and student volunteers will provide interested shoppers with a list of needed items available in the stores. When people leave the stores, they drop off their contributions with volunteers who store them in the bus. Donations are also accepted at the Jamestown Family Resource Center. Cash, checks and gift cards are also accepted.
The items will be distributed to students in need starting August 19th, before the start of the school year through the Jamestown Family Resource Center. Families can sign up to receive backpacks and supplies at the bus on August 17th or by calling JFRC 984-4704 x113.
To contribute, volunteer or for more information call the Jamestown Family Resource Center at 984-4704.
