Planning a Year-Round Garden with Chris Montesano

This two-hour class will give attendees information about how and when to plant a variety of vegetables, while considering warming local temperatures, growing periods and soil regiments. Harvesting and planting year-round is the goal. The book by John Jeavons, “How to Grow More Vegetables” will be a resource for the class. This is a planning, in-classroom informational event aimed at beginners, but everyone welcome.

Our teacher, Chris is a local gardener who has been farming since he was 6. One of the strains of beans growing in his Sonora garden came directly from Italy (passed down from his grandfather) He was a gardening instructor for a large garden co-op for many years in Calaveras County. He is full of knowledge and enthusiasm for growing all sorts of things (beans, blueberries, snow peas, strawberries, fruit). Chris has a passion for gardening and understands its power to influence not only our health with fresh food and movement, but also our (warming) planet.

Please pre-register for this FREE class and be a part of the movement to eat wisely! Gardening not only gives us a reward of fresh fruits and vegetables, but it also gets us moving naturally and helps reduce the carbon footprint in our community.

Please RSVP with Blue Zones Project, 209-694-3217 or on Eventbrite.
