The last time the U.S. had a balanced budget was in 2001. Both Democrat and Republican administrations have increased deficits since then, often by obfuscating the impact of their expensive, ideological and pork filled legislation with misleading titles such as the “Inflation Reduction Act.” The result? The gross national debt now exceeds yearly gross domestic product.
