Congressman Radanovich Issues Award

Sonora, CA — 19th District Congressman George Radanovich awarded Laura Richmond of Sonora the Congressional Award Gold Medal at a Monday morning ceremony at the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce.

The 19 year old second semester student at Columbia College received the award after spending more than 400 hours raising and training guide dogs for the blind in the Bay Area. Richmond also has helped to educate the public on the program and how it helps the visually impaired.

The Congressional Award is the U.S. Congress´ award for young Americans. It was established in 1979 and is a non-competitive program open to individuals between the ages of 14 and 23.
