Mokelumne Hill, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports that an illegal indoor marijuana grow near Mokelumne Hill has been busted, and it may be linked to a wider illicit growing network.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) recently raided a property on East Center Street, north of Highways 26 and 49, after receiving anonymous tips reporting “suspicious activity on the property.” Inside a shop, next to the main house, they discovered and seized nearly 1,000 mature marijuana plants and about 46 pounds of processed weed.

“Indicators at the scene suggest the location may be linked to a larger illegal cultivation network,” according to sheriff’s officials, adding, “No suspects were located at the time of the operation. The case remains under investigation.”

Noting that these illegal pot grows often are accompanied by environmental and public-safety risks, the public is asked to report suspected grow sites to the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Tip Line at (209) 754-6870.
