Sonora, CA – A Sonora man was arrested for DUI after a solo vehicle crash, and a child was found to be an occupant in the suspect’s vehicle.
Recently, 43-year-old Cabino Valdez, in a 2025 Subaru Outback, was westbound on Lyons Bald Mountain Road, east of Apple Valley Road, when the CHP reported he went off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. Arriving officers discovered Valdez was not alone in the vehicle, as an 8-year-old passenger was found in the back seat. While officers reported that Valdez and the child were wearing seatbelts, both sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Further investigation determined that Valdez was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested for felony drunk driving and child abuse with the possibility of great bodily harm.
