San Andreas, CA – Illegal dumpers beware: Calaveras County Public Works is putting up signs to alert anyone who litters about the consequences.
The sign in the picture box is appearing around the county, placed there by road maintenance members to warn individuals who may be dumping or considering it to think again. It reads, “Dumping is forbidden by law.” It also details the penalties those who illegally dump can face, including up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. The red and white signs say anyone breaking the law “will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” The signage also tells the public how to report illegal dumping activity by calling the sheriff or local police.
The placement of the signs, according to county road officials, came from the public through the Road Maintenance Service Requests forms being filled out and found by clicking here. Public Works officials added, “We’re spreading the message to keep our roads and parks clean for everyone. Let’s all do our part to keep Calaveras clean!”
