Sonora, CA – Adventist Health Sonora (AHS) is thanking the Pine Mountain Lake Lady Niners golf club and touting their generous gift of $10,000 to its Cancer Patient Support Fund.
Every October for the last seven years, they have held a golf tournament to benefit the Cancer Patient Support Fund. It helps to remove financial barriers to care so local cancer patients and their loved ones can focus on their treatment and healing.
“We care for more than 400 new cancer patients at the Diana J. White Cancer Institute every year,” says Greg McCulloch, Adventist Health Sonora President. “As that number continues to grow, this gift will help us ensure that we provide not only excellent care but also meaningful support for our friends and neighbors facing a cancer diagnosis.”

The event keeps growing every year, with this year being the largest, with over 70 golfers participating and over $10,000 raised. This year was also personal for Claudia Day of Groveland, who spearheaded this year’s tournament and is a two-time breast cancer survivor. The mother of three was first diagnosed at 36.
“When I was going through it, I would always think, ‘When I’m on the other side, I am going to help other people,” she says. “I know these people are going through a really tough time, and this fund makes a huge difference for them.”
In total, the group has given more than $25,000 to the hospital; click here for more information.
