Garage/shop fire in the Rancho Calaveras Subdivision in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County—CCF photo
Calaveras County, CA – Two fires back-to-back yesterday afternoon in Calaveras County: one destroyed a garage that housed a vehicle used in “The Fast and the Furious” movie, and the flames of the other killed several chickens.
On Friday, December 19, 2025, around 2 p.m., Calaveras Consolidated Fire (CCF) reports the first blaze at a home on Meagan Lane in Burson ignited in a chicken coop. CCF reports that 13 chickens perished in the flames.
As we reported here yesterday afternoon, the second blaze involving a garage was on the 200 block of Melissa Lane off of Highway 26 in the subdivision of Rancho Calaveras in the Valley Springs area. The fire involved a metal garage/shop. Upon the arrival of multiple fire agencies, crews battled heavy fire conditions.
“There are no hydrants in this area, and multiple water tenders were used to supply the fire engines,” disclosed CCF officials, adding, “Six vehicles were destroyed inside the shop. Most of them were collector cars, and one was in the movie The Fast and the Furious.”
Luckily, there were no injuries involved in this blaze, but unfortunately, the building was a total loss. The causes for both fires remain under investigation.
