San Mateo Man Jailed For Fatally Beating Cat With Golf Club

San Mateo, CA — A San Mateo man has been arrested and jailed after he allegedly beat a cat to death with a golf club and threatened a woman who tried to intervene.
Authorities say the woman told police she saw 62-year-old Robert Kelly clubbing a black cat as she drove by his house yesterday.
She told police that when she tried to rescue the animal, Kelly allegedly said he would use the golf club on her as well.
When officers arrived at Kelly´s home the cat was dead in the front yard.
Kelly told police he went after the cat because it kept coming onto his property and trying to get into his house.
