Emeryville, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento have landed on a short list of cities to serve as the headquarters for the state´s new $3 billion stem cell agency.
Ten cities had vied for the honor. They offered everything from free rent to a 24-hour concierge service to host the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine.
The institute was created in November after voters overwhelmingly approved a measure allowing California to fund human embryonic stem cell research over ten years.
