Jamestown Man Identified As Victim In Fatal Crash
31-year old Jamestown resident Jeremy Hancock has been identified as the motorist killed in a three-vehicle crash on Highway-49 yesterday.
Officer Tom Wills says Jeremy Hancock was driving a ´91 Ford Ranger at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 49 between Sonora and Columbia just after 2:30 p.m. Hancock came upon slow traffic and swerved into the oncoming lane. His vehicle sideswiped the left front portion of a Honda Civic being driven by 19 year old San Andreas resident Camille Inocencio. The impact caused the Honda to spin out of control and the car came to a halt in a ditch. The Ranger continued and smashed head -on into a ´98 Jeep Cherokee being driven by 71 year old Jamestown resident Russell Cameron. Cameron´s wife Deanna was riding in the passenger seat and suffered major injuries. Russell Cameron and the driver of the Honda, Inocencio , suffered minor injuries. Hancock died at the scene.
Wills says investigators are now waiting for the results of toxicology tests before determining if Hancock was under the influence when the accident occurred.
The crash caused traffic to back up between Sonora and Columbia until the accident scene was cleared.
