Calaveras One Step Closer To First Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Calaveras County is one step closer to having its first medical marijuana dispensary.
Supervisors have approved conforming to voter mandated Proposition 215 and will allow the establishment of a pot-dispensary for ill patients with a prescription. 2nd District Supervisor Steve Wilensky says Supervisors remain committed to battling substance abuse and ridding the county of its clandestine meth-labs. Wilensky adds that anyone that applies for an an application to operate a dispensary will have to meet rigorous guidelines.
Wilensky says there is no specific proposal to operate a medical-marijuana dispensary before the board right now, and zoning for a facility will likely mirror the existing zoning for pharmacies.
