Matsui’s Widow Will Run
Robert Matsui´s widow has announced that she will seek the congressional seat held by her husband until he died on January 1st. Doris Matsui says she wants to continue her late husband´s work. The 60 year old widow made the announcement in front of her Land Park home in Sacramento. Matsui says she favors stem cell research and opposes the privatization of Social Security. No other candidates have yet announced their desire to run in the special election. A primary election is scheduled for March 8th. A special general election will be held on May 3rd if no candidate garners more than 50-percent of the vote in the primary. Robert Matsui was a staple in Northern California politics for over a quarter-century. He represented the 5th Congressional District around Sacramento.
