Water Main Burst Closes Road

The rain may have stopped but it´s still all wet on Stewart Street in Sonora. An underground water main burst after 9 a.m. and sent H2O pouring down the narrow road into storm drains. Tuolumne Utility District workers quickly rushed to the scene to ascertain the situation.
The road was shutoff to traffic between Lytton Street and Restano Way, but was reopened shortly before 3 p.m. Workers located the area where the main was broken just after 11 a.m. and had it fixed by mid-afternoon. The broken main required workers to turn the water off to approximately 10 homes on Stewart Street for several hours. Officials still aren´t sure what caused the break.
