A tsunami like the one that devastated Asia could strike in Northern California. Remarkably similar geologic makeup means a devastating tidal wave preceded by an earthquake is a distinct possibility in the golden state. Columbia College professor Dr. Jeff Tolhurst will examine that possibility and explain the science behind tsunamis and earthquakes during a free lecture and presentation at the College in the Manzanita building this Thursday. College spokesman Doug Lau says the event will be both timely and informative. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
