Ceres Officer Killed By Suspect

Ceres Police have identified Sergeant Howard Stevenson as the officer killed in a gun battle with a suspect that tried to rob a liquor store last night. Stevenson was a veteran officer. Officer Sam Ryno was also involved in the shooting and remains in critical condition at an area hospital. Ryno was shot several times during the exchange. The suspect was killed by police. The incident happened at about 8:30 pm, north of Ceres High School. Police will hold a press conference later this afternoon to reveal more details.
