Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation Of Senior Apartment Complex

Sonora, CA — About 35 residents of the Forest View Apartments have been relocated to an area hotel after a gas leak was discovered at the complex last evening.
The Calaveras County Haz Mat Team responded to the apartments after receiving a call of a strange odor.
Matt Zelinski of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department says the leak was initially thought to be Chlorine but further investigation revealed that it was Carbon Monoxide.
Two residents were transported to area hospitals as a precautionary measure. Investigators say the source of the leak appears to be the pool heater although that is not confirmed.
Zelinsky says the investigation will continue today to determine the exact cause of the incident.
