Hathaway Pines, CA — Former U.S. Forest Service Calaveras District Ranger Bill Lundsford has been memorialized with the planting of a long living giant sequoia at his old post in Hathaway Pines.
Lundsford´s 30 years of public service and strong leadership were commemorated last week along with the one-year anniversary of his death.
Friends, family and former colleagues gathered to share stories about how he inspired others to be stewards of the land.
Lundsford lived in San Andreas and retired in 1981. He was referred to as the last old-school ranger.
