Third Annual Healthy Schools Summit Slated For Friday

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County School Superintendent´s Office is planning the third annual Healthy Schools Summit as part of an ongoing effort to combat obesity in children.

Assemblyman Dave Cogdill and Secretary of State Bruce McPherson are slated to speak at this year´s summit, scheduled for this Friday.

Superintendent Joe Silva says the summit is designed to empower teachers and parents to effectively address the issue.

He says three key points will be discussed, including policies and practices in the classrooms, dietary management relating to federal health mandates and cost efficiency.

School administrators, teachers, and parents, along with board members and food service directors are encouraged to attend. Organizers say non-affiliated community members are also welcome.
