Sonora, CA — CDF officials are warning Mother Lode residents of the danger of structure fires over the holidays.
Reports say cooking is the leading cause of residential structure fires on Thanksgiving Day and is responsible for more fires than heating, arson, and open flame combined.
The CDF is advising people to never leave a stove or oven unattended, Never misuse cooking equipment, check all appliances regularly, and always have a working smoke alarm in the home. For more information on Holiday cooking safety contact the CDF office.
