Sonora Wildcats Ready For Section Three Championship Clash
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Wildcats football team is gearing up for the game of the season tomorrow night.
Sonora faces off against the Manteca Buffaloes for the Section 3 Championship at University of the Pacific in Stockton.
Coach Robert Cendro says the team is ready for the challenge. He says the team is healthy and the players aren´t having to deal with the injuries that have been such a plague this season. Cendro says the practices have been productive and team morale is “outstanding.”
Cendro says one requirement for the Wildcat defense will be to keep Buffalo Running Back Michael Turner under control.
Offensively, Cendro says he expects resistance to the Wildcat ground game which was successful during the teams´ regular season meeting this year. In that game of week six, Sonora dealt Manteca their first loss of the season by a count of 31-28 at Dunlavy Field.
The Wildcats have been away from the championship game for ten years after going to the title game three times between 1990 and 1995.
The game begins at 7:30 tomorrow night, and, as always, the action can be heard on Star 92.7 and streamed live on MyMotherLode.com.
