Gasoline Prices Remain Steady For Holiday Weekend
Gasoline prices continue to fall nationwide, sending good news to Americans as they prepare for the Fourth of July holiday.
California gas prices have dropped ten cents after hitting record high around Memorial Day
AAA officials say they expect more than 5.4 millionCalifornians will travel during the holiday weekend. That´s up more than 2.5 percent from last year. Of those, 4.5 million will travel by car
But analysts says any relief from soaring gasoline prices will be short lived.. Cynthia Harris with AAA says recent problems at several California refineries may cause gas prices to spike once again.
The national average price of a gallon of regular-unleaded gasoline is $1.91. Wholesale prices for gasoline have fallen at a steeper rate than retail prices, which suggests there is more room for even lower prices at the pumps. Crude oil declined to almost 36 dollars per barrel, the lowest level in two months, following the transfer of power in Iraq.
