Update: Vegetation Fire In Valley Springs

Update at 9:10 p.m.: A Red Cross shelter for people impacted by the Gann Fire has been opened at the Jenny Lind Community Center located at 189 Pine Street in Valley Springs. Displaced livestock can be taken to the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.

Update at 8:38 p.m.: The fire has been mapped to 310 acres. Crews will continue overnight, working on stopping the forward progress of the fire.

Update at 8:12 p.m.: The fire has been mapped to 300 acres.

Update at 7:45 p.m.: Mandatory evacuations are in place for zones “147, 109, 139, 110”; a link to an evacuation order map can be found here.

Update at 7:19 p.m.: The fire’s size has been updated to approximately 200-250 acres, with additional resources responding and burning at a moderate rate of spread.

Update at 7:11 p.m.: Hogan Dam Road at Silver Rapids Road is closed to allow fire personnel and equipment access to the fire. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

Update at 6:23 p.m.: The fire is now estimated to be 75 acres, with additional resources responding.

Update at 6:06 p.m.: The fire has grown to an estimated 40-50 acres as air and ground resources continue to battle the blaze.

Original post at 5:42 p.m.:Valley Springs, CA– Fire resources are responding to a vegetation fire near Hogan Dam Road and Gann Road in the Valley Springs area. The fire has been named the Gann Fire. The fire is approximately 30 acres and is burning at a dangerous rate of spread. Additional resources are responding to the incident.
