The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory for the Mariposa County foothills and the central San Joaquin Valley, until 8 PM Sunday night.
In some locations, the daily afternoon high temperatures will range anywhere from 105 to 108 degrees.
The overnight lows will generally only fall into the mid sixties to mid seventies, with little overnight relief.
Such hot temperatures and limited overnight relief may cause heat illnesses.
There will be multiple days of Major Heat Risk.
During the Heat Advisory, try to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the direct sun, and be sure to check up on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
