Moderate Lawmakers Unveil Spending Plan

Two State Lawmakers have proposed their solution to California´s huge deficit. The two assemblymen, Democrat Joe Canciamilla of Pittsburgh and Republican Keith Richman of Northridge have unveiled what they´re calling a “fiscally-responsible budget plan.”
The plan trades a tax hike, which Democrats say is necessary, for deeper cuts and a spending cap desired by Republicans.
It includes $6 billion in additional cuts in corrections, education, higher education, and health and social services.
The plan is designed to restart budget talks between the two parties, which have ground to a halt.
