Investigators: Drowning Death Was Accidental

Sponsored by:

Investigators say the drowning death of a Sonora man last week in New Melones Lake was apparently accidental. Louis Kosina Sr. was found dead, floating in the water near Tuttletown Launch Ramp early Tuesday morning. His boat was found about a quarter of a mile away.

Lt. John Steely in the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s office says Kosina had been fishing at the lake on Monday night, and a member of his family called police to let them know he was missing. Steely says there was no sign of foul play.

Steely says Kosina fell out of his fishing boat into the water and he was wearing his life presever improperly. It was only on one arm.

Kosina was 75 years old.
