Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Deaths Up

California traffic deaths during the long Memorial Day weekend reached 28 by 6 AM today. The toll is 8 higher than during the same 60 hour period of the Memorial Day weekend last year.
The California Highway Patrol says that in the 23 traffic deaths in its jurisdiction, 9 of those killed were not wearing seatbelts. One motorcyclist killed was not wearing a helmet.
