Sheriff´s Substation to Open in Murphys

Hoping to cut down on vandalism and curb crime in Murphys, the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department will soon open a substation in the former CDF fire station at Murphy´s Park.
Sheriff Dennis Downum says deputies use substations as a base of operations in the various communities where they are located. Murphy´s Community Club members will help make repairs to the county owned building to make it ready for the new tenants. Area merchants are supportive of the new law enforcement presence.
