An eastern Nevada delegation seeking state funds for a historic railroad restoration project is getting encouragement from Assembly leaders. The Assembly Ways and Means Committee Committee is hearing two bills providing $1 million for the effort. At the hearing, Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins praised proponents for “not looking for a handout but a hand up.” Perkins adds he´s hopeful that state lawmakers will be able to fund the project. He says it will be good for the entire state. Bob Hadfield of the Nevada Association of Counties says the railroad project is “an incredible treasure” and “really part of the state´s overall economy.”
