Davis Hopes To Head Off Budget Deadlock

Governor Davis is predicting a breakthrough in the budget deadlock. Davis says he believes he and lawmakers will adopt a package of mid-fiscal year budget cuts within the next 30 days. Lawmakers approved about $8.6 billion dollars in cuts and funding shifts earlier this month, but tied it to enactment of a bill designed to trigger an increase in vehicle license fees. Davis says he´ll veto that measure.
