Car Alarm Helps Scare Would-Be Robber

Quick thinking by a Groveland woman may have stopped a crime Thursday night.
Sonora police report a man in his 20´s came up to the woman in the parking lot of the Sonora Wal-Mart around 8:30 Thursday night as she was getting in her car. The man, described as a thin, tall Hispanic male with a mustache, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, brandished a black handgun at the woman.
Police say she set off her car€™s alarm and started screaming. That caused the man to flee on foot. Officers where unable to locate the suspect.
