The man who´s bankrolling the push to get rid of Governor Davis has been arrested twice on illegal weapons charges, including an incident in Michigan that led to a misdemeanor gun conviction.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Darrell Issa has implied that old convictions should be off limits in the campaign. “I remember plenty of the details, but I don´t think 30-year-old misdemeanors are fair play here,” Issa said.
The San Diego area Republican wants to replace Governor Davis if he´s recalled. Issa has donated about $1 million to the recall effort.
