CHP Officer Dragged A Mile By Car
Police say they´ve arrested a man who allegedly dragged a police officer with his car then fled, forcing authorities to shut down the westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge for hours.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Shawn Chase says authorities found the man this morning. He was hiding about a mile from the bridge. The unidentified man was stopped on suspicion of DUI just east of the Bay Bridge toll plaza at 1:30 a.m. He then drove away, dragging an officer with him for over a mile. The officer fired shots at the driver, who stopped the car and fled on foot.
Chase says the man has a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
The westbound lanes of the bridge near the toll plaza were closed for about three hours.
