Wallace Man’s Murder Trial Moved Back
The trial of a Wallace man charged with the murder of his two neighbors has been pushed back another month.
The 64 year-old Peter Jordan Chiesa, had been scheduled to go to trial Oct. 27 for the slayings of his two neighbors, 43 year-old Leslie Hannameyer, and 41 year-old Annette Truman, The two women were shot to death 13 months ago while clearing tree clippings from a disputed road easement off Highway 12.
Chiesa´s trial was scheduled to start today. But his attorney, Clyde Blackmon, sought a continuance last month, pushing the trial back to October.
This week, prosecutors asked for another continuance because of witness-scheduling conflicts. The trial is rescheduled to Nov. 18 and is expected to take up to five weeks.
Chiesa is being held in Calaveras County Jail without bail.
