Some Unusual Candidates Want Davis´ Office
In California, the lesson that anyone can run for public office is being proven.
Now that an October 7 date has been set for an election aimed at recalling Governor Gray Davis, the ballot may be attracting some unconventional candidates.
Among those said to be considering a run are a long-time caretaker of a freeway rest stop, a retired police officer who wants to focus on legalizing ferrets as pets, an unemployed man who says he needs the job, a woman who sells thong panties on her web site, and an 18-year-old student who lost six elections to his high school student council, and who says he can´t spend much on the race because he needs to buy a laptop for college.
