School Seeks Leads In Dog Bite Incident

Officials at the Black Oak School in Twain Harte are asking that dogs be kept away from the school grounds, after a little girl was bitten by a dog there Monday night.

A teacher was working to prepare for school – which starts there next week – during that time her 11 year-old daughter was bitten. Superintendent Mike Brusa said there are signs posted. “Sometimes people bring their dogs up here. They´re not supposed to,” Brusa said.

The girl wasn´t badly hurt. “Mostly she was quite scared and frightened,” her mom Jalane King said. “It wasn´t a deep puncture wound. It mostly ripped her shorts.” But doctors may have to treat the little girl for rabies if they can´t confirm the dog wasn´t carrying the disease.

The parents of the girl don´t plan to press any charges. The man who was with the dog is described only as in his forties. If you have any information, please call the school at 586-0999.
