Kidnapped Jamestown Woman Rescued

A Jamestown woman was rescued by California Highway Patrol officers in Oakland 11 days after she was kidnapped from Tracy. Officers spotted 29-year-old Jennifer McLachlan and her alleged kidnapper, former boyfriend Wayne Russo, in an Oakland store yesterday.

On September 20th, the 43-year-old Russo allegedly kidnapped McLachlan from her current boyfriend´s residence after attacking both of them. Police say Russo beat McLachlan, forced her into a car and drove away with her.

Officers assisting in the investigation were at an Oakland store when Russo and McLachlan walked in. Russo escaped on foot and McLachlan was treated by paramedics called to the scene.

The San Joaquin Sheriff´s office issued a warrant for Russo´s arrest on a number of charges including battery, domestic violence, kidnapping and felony grand theft auto.
