Fire at Convalescent Hospital Contained

Sonora area fire crews say a small fire at the Sonora Community Convalescent Hospital this morning has been contained. The structure fire on 500 block of West Ponderosa Drive was first reported at 8 a.m. this morning
Emergency personnel and law enforcement officers were moving the patients to the opposite end of the facility. Fire officials say the small fire was contained to a motor in equipment in the facilities mechanical room. Firefighters are mopping up at this time. No injuries reported. No word yet on damages. Fire crews and equipment will be in the area for a while yet, so try to avoid the area of Ponderosa Drive off Stockton Road if possible for a while.
