Highway 395 To Reopen

A closed section of a major highway in the California- Nevada border area is scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m., after being closed for a week due to California´s largest wildfire of this month. Motorists have been forced to detour around a section of U-S Highway 395 through the Walker River canyon, about 30 miles east of Yosemite National Park. The 24,000 acre Cannon fire near the small community of Walker is 60% contained. The cost of fighting the blaze is estimated at five million dollars.
