State Computer Hacked
California state employees have cause for concern after computer hackers broke into a state computer system. The system contains personal financial information of about a quarter million state workers, including top officials.
The information covers employees from all ranks, even Governor Gray Davis and his staff. It hasn´t been determined yet if the hackers used the information for any purposes, including identity theft. Authorities say an investigation determined the breach of the state database occurred on April fifth. The breach was discovered on May seventh. Officials plan to post a warning on state Web sites.
