Insurance Commissioner’s Race Warming Up

The three major Democratic candidates for insurance commissioner are loading up on negative ads heading into Tuesday´s primary. The race is one of the most fiercely contested statewide. Assemblyman Tom Calderon began running an ad this week with a woman saying in sign language quote “I´m sick of waiting for someone to take on the H-M-Os, so I´m voting for Tom Calderon.´´ Calderon´s opponents say the ad is misleading because the insurance commissioner has little jurisdiction over the state´s health maintenance organizations.
