Backpack Trips Offered

Backpacking enthusiasts can take part in two exceptional opportunities to see spectacular wilderness scenery during hikes planned by the Stanislaus National Forest Summit Ranger District.

District Ranger Karen Caldwell says this Saturday, July 27, the ranger district will offer a moderate 6-mile round trip hike that will take backpackers to Sword Lake and Lost Lake.

On August 10, the organized hike will lead to Powell Lake and Burst Rock. This trip offers incredible scenes of the South Fork of the Stanislaus River in the Emigrant Wilderness.

Trips are limited to 15 people and require advanced registration. Both trips are designed to help backpackers expand their skills under the guidance of an expert wilderness ranger.
