Investigation Continues Into Fairfield Car Bomb

A powerful pipe bomb exploded in a car in Fairfield, gutting the vehicle and startling neighbors for miles. Nobody was injured when the bomb went off late Wednesday in the 1987 Subaru. Police don´t know if the bomb was set to go off when it did, or if it blew up accidentally. They also don´t yet know who owns the car. A man walking about 20 feet from the car when the bomb went off says he was thrown five feet and knocked to the ground by the force. Debris was scattered as far as a block away. The explosion is under investigation by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
